1. Coronavirus Testing Centre
Sunbury Community Health has partnered with Western Health to provide a Coronavirus Testing Centre in Sunbury. Since opening in May, we’ve completed over 5,000 tests. Testing here is free and helps us to better understand how the virus is spreading through the community.
Anyone aged 3 years and above who have any symptoms can get tested here.
If you have any symptoms, no matter how mild, get tested and stay home. Symptoms include: fever, chills or sweats, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of sense of smell or taste.

Hours: Monday to Friday – 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Parking is available in and around Timins Street. At various times the centre could be busy, please prepare to park nearby and walk.

2. We are Open for Business
Sunbury Community Health is still able to provide a wide range of services to our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. While some services have been reduced to emergency services only, we still have plenty of services that can be accessed through technology such as TeleHealth, Zoom Meetings, phone calls or video conversation.
Please note our change in closing hours: Our 12-28 Macedon Street site will now be closing at 4.30 pm, until further notice.
We have introduced a range of measures to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus both for staff and the wider community. These measures have included the postponing of non-essential groups and events.
Staff and community coming to Sunbury Community Health will now be required to wear a mask in our building. If you do not have a mask one will be provided to you upon arrival. All people entering the building will also be asked a series of questions. If you do have any flu like symptoms, please get tested and stay home.
We will continue to practice to the highest standards of hygiene safety. We are here for our community, if you need us and would like to access a service, please call us on 9744 4455 to find out what options are available to you.
Programs and Services Update:
NDIS and Home Care Packages
- Home Care Package and NDIS Support coordinators are available by phone and continuing to offer their usual service to our clients.
- Individual Respite is still being offered to individuals to reduce carer stress and social isolation of our individual older clients.
Child Development Unit
- Music Therapy groups, Tuesdays: SUSPENDED
- Littlies Language Group, Friday 10am: SUSPENDED
- Run Club: Friday 10am: SUSPENDED
Health and Wellbeing
- All Groups have been suspended – both those operating external and internal to Sunbury Community Health.
- Individual centre-based services are now operating for urgent needs only e.g. Podiatry and Physiotherapy.
- All other allied health services are available via Telehealth – Occupational therapy , Dietetics , Exercise Physiology, Cardiac Rehab , Diabetes education and Podiatry, where people have been referred but needs are not urgent.
Clinicians are continuing to check in with their regular clients to maintain a health coaching service and to optimise social connections and welfare checks.

Our Dental team is keeping it’s doors open to help with dental emergencies where possible. From Monday the 30th of March, all elective treatment, for dental issues not causing pain, will be suspended.
If you have a concern which is not indicated for an emergency visit, a telephone consultation may be offered, with one of our dental professionals.
We aim to help our community as much as is safely possible, to get people out of pain and through this pandemic. We are following the current recommendations of Dental Health Services Victoria and maintaining excellent infection control standards. We are taking additional measures to reduce the risks of coming in for treatment, for both patients and staff. This means that some types of treatment are impacted, and no longer available. After your assessment the dental professional can advise you on which treatments are available.
Please Note: If you are unwell, you cannot be seen for any dental treatment. If you do have a dental emergency and are unwell, you will need to be seen at a public hospital.
Sunbury Leisure Centre
All programs run by Sunbury Community Health in partnership with Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre have now been cancelled until further notice.

3. COVID-19 Support in our Community
This is a difficult time for us all, especially those more vulnerable in the community. Staying apart keeps us together and safe as a community, however, being isolated can be extremely challenging.
If you or someone you know is feeling anxious, we can help connect you to local services ready to support you and your needs during this time.
If you are concerned about people you are in contact with or know someone this initiative might support the steps are simple:
- Encourage them to call the COVID support line on 1800 675 398
- Select option ‘3’ for social supports
- Inform the operator what suburb you live in and they will complete an assessment and referral to local supports.

Support for Seniors – Connecting #TogetherSunbury
We’re all feeling the impact of isolation in different ways. During this time, it’s more important than ever to connect with one another. Older relatives, friends and neighbours are often the most isolated.
Sunbury Community Health is part of a network that can help seniors in the local community.
We can also help you learn to see and talk to family members and friends via “Zoom” video technology. Our partner U3A Sunbury is offering a free digital literacy course. You participate from your own home, guided by trained digital literacy mentors.
