As part of Autism Awareness Month, Sunbury Community Health is proud to present ‘Autism in the Preschool Years’. These three workshops are designed for parents of young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Early Childhood and Care Professionals working with these young children.

The workshops aim to give an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders as well as development of ideas and strategies regarding language development, play skills and positive behaviour support for specific children.

The Revamp support group is designed to assist young people to discuss and learn more about coping with these issues. The program is free and for individuals aged between 15–20 years. It will run for five weeks by qualified Counsellors. You can attend any or all of the sessions!

Would you like to understand more about diabetes and things you can do to help keep well?

Our Diabetes Learning Course is a series of four sessions held on Thursdays from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm, beginning on Thursday 5 May. The course is suitable for people not yet diagnosed with diabetes, those newly diagnosed, as well as people who have had diabetes for a longer time. You don’t have to have diabetes to attend. Family, carers and friends are welcome to attend too.

A support group is a group of people who meet regularly to discuss their experiences and strategies for coping in a safe and confidential environment.

This group is guided by a facilitator, who will assist in discussion and provide insight and understanding about issues raised.

It IS a place for community discussion, support and sharing of ideas. It IS NOT a place for therapy or crisis intervention.

Action Recovery Course (ARC) is a six week program for family members concerned about their loved one’s alcohol and other drugs use.

ARC provides families with knowledge and skills to better understand addiction. It explores ways of improving relationships and offers techniques to cope with anxiety and stress. It covers topics such as boundaries, guilt, worry, communication, acceptance.

The Planning Collective have announced the first Sunbury and Surrounds NDIS meetup.

Enjoy a night out with other locals who are learning about the NDIS. Its an opportunity to network, learn from each others’ experiences, laugh a little and debrief.

In recognition of the International Day of People with Disability a movie Life, Animated will be played. This movie is a coming of age story about a boy and his family who overcame great challenges by turning Disney animated movies into a language to express love, loss, kinship and brotherhood.
