Sunbury Lions Community Aged Care

Sunbury Lions Community Aged Care closure March 2020.

After almost 30 years of operation, Sunbury Community Health made the difficult decision to close Sunbury Lions Community Aged Care in Timins Street, Sunbury.

The facility’s 29 residents have been re-homed. Every effort was made to ensure all residents were fully supported while they made the move to a new facility of their choice. The decision to close was made after much consideration of all possible alternatives.

The Aged Care facility was built by the Lions Club of Sunbury Elderly Peoples’ Homes Inc and opened in 1991 as a Hostel with approval to care for 26 residents. Prior to the facility opening there were no residential aged care facilities in what was then the Shire of Bulla.

While the Sunbury Lions Community Aged Care Facility closed on 13th March 2020, Sunbury Community Health will continue to provide high quality, community based aged care services through its Home Care Package and Commonwealth Home Support Programs.
