Fees & Payments

In accordance with government aged care policy, all residents are required to contribute to the cost of providing aged care services. The following fees and charges apply.

Basic daily care fee

All residents must pay a basic daily care fee. This fee is set by Medicare. The amount is amended by legislation every six months, on 20 March and 20 September.

Accommodation payments

Sunbury Lions Community Aged Care requires a maximum Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) of $330 000 or a maximum Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) of $56.78.

Residents can choose to pay for their accommodation with a RAD or DAP, or a combination of both.

The RAD is paid as a lump sum amount that accrues daily and is paid periodically e.g. monthly. A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily payments.

Residents will have 28 days after entering care to decide how to make their payment.

Example of a payment option

A resident may choose to pay for the accommodation as a combination—a RAD of $165 000 and a DAP of $28.39 ($863.50 as a monthly payment).
